These artworks are intended to exist as artefacts of memory.
Through the abstraction and recontextualisation of niche representations of place,
The paintings adopt a reality that is physical and found-object-esque. The value of the work is intended to be drawn from the pathways of thought and process,
the narrative is left intentionally ambiguous.
The painting 'Beginning Ending' directly borrows from a piece of public art by Rabiya Choudhry on the pavement in Pollokshields that I would repeatedly see coming home from from a day job.
Without knowing its origin I began to interpret this as representing feeling in limbo
the phrase in its context too doesn't make sense; it says 'Beginning Ending' on
both ends of the path.
